Hundreds of racers scheduled to take on 5K obstacle course set right on the sand of OOB!
PORTLAND, ME, September 12th, 2013 – Beach RAID, the beach themed leg of the Maine based RAID Series of obstacle races will take place this Saturday in Old Orchard Beach, ME. Hundreds of intrepid racers ranging from elite athletes to recreational runners will toe the start line for this one of a kind race right on the sand. Ten professionally engineered obstacles set along the 5K course will include a 2 story cargo net climb, rows of monkey bars, a bootcamp exercise station and a rope climb/belay obstacle. Each obstacle will isolate a different muscle group challenging the versatility and core strength as well as the endurance of racers. Start time is 10 a.m.
Upon reaching the finish line, runners will be treated to a post-race party at the Brunswick Resort located directly by the start line. Live music and refreshments from Shipyard Brewing Company and Black Bear Energy will be served throughout the afternoon. An awards ceremony will be also held on the patio of the Brunswick to recognize the top three finishers in each age division as well as the top male, female and co-ed teams.
The Beach RAID is part of the RAID Series which also includes Urban RAID (with races in Portland, ME Boston, MA and Albany, NY) and Mountain RAID Obstacle and Trail races (held at Sunday River Resort in Newry, ME).
